The world’s most famous ring announcer, Michael Buffer, will be the master of ceremonies in Belfast on February 28 calling IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton and challenger Chris Avalos to the ring at the Odyssey Arena, it’s been confirmed.
Buffer, whose catch phrase “let’s get ready to rumble” is known throughout the world, has announced some of the greatest fighters of the modern era, from George Foreman, Larry Holmes and Roberto Duran to Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Floyd Mayweather Jnr.
As his legend has grown Buffer has become as famous as the boxers with whom he shares a ring. Always impeccably turned out and perfectly groomed, Buffer is synonymous with the very best in world championship boxing, conferring on the occasion a heightened sense of grandeur and rise to prominence of Frampton, the world’s most exciting super bantam, has drawn Buffer to Belfast for the first time.
And his starring role at the top of The World Is Not Enough bill is a fitting emblem on the night ITV returns to big time boxing with the first live broadcast in five years going out on its flagship platform.
Buffer said: « I’m looking forward to an awesome visit to Belfast. It will be my second visit but the first time working as a fight night MC and it couldn’t possibly be any grander than being at one of Carl Frampton’s title defenses. Frampton’s fights are everything the true sports fan dreams of. The Jackal’s fights have been getting well known around the boxing world as drop dead exciting events.
